concept: when the last coal mine closes in appalachia.

our story begins as a tribute to the coal miner. a small museum and tomb cover the entrance to the last mountain mine in appalachia. oral histories are recorded and immersive views into the old mine shaft reveal the perilous journey. each year, an annual release of fireflies plumes upward from the yellow stacks in remembrance of the miners and their life’s labor.
