the WATERFARM

concept: imagining climate change

our story begins at the river’s edge, where a vertical farm building faces flooded fields and rising waters. the lone farmer, unwilling to abandon the home, moves one level up to stay ahead of the river. the final departure point is the silo level where a trusty canoe awaits. where will he go?

to contemplate a global exodus from waterside communities is daunting. the waterfarm images are computer-rendered and re-touched as I search for a muted hopper-esque stillness. the friendly and familiar FORMS of farm buildings are used to pull back from pure climate despair.
