the ghosts

concept: upcycled chair parts

the remnants of chair and stool parts are recombined with steel mesh and cardboard, then covered with plaster sheeting. the sheeting is draped, layered, and shaped by hand. as the plaster dries, the folds of cloth are manipulated to achieve a flow or feeling of the moment. in the gentle swaddling, the chairs are reborn as ghosts, then placed on the street and left to a fate unknown. in the light of day, plaster takes on an ethereal glow.

the idea began in a dream state.
